NIGHT LILY wins a short head at Nottingham on 15th under a well-judged ride by Liam Jones to flash late and fast and get up in the shadow of the post. LILY has been running well without winning since her heroic second in a Listed race on the all-weather at Kempton in the spring. The handicapper has allowed her a bit of lee-way and she was able to make the most of it at Nottingham. Hopefully, if the handicapper does not go mad, she will be able to follow up. We were looking at Bath, where she won last year and loves the firm ground usually found there, but they have abandoned all races over sprint distances because of problems with the bend. Lily seems to love the firm ground and is able to bounce off it. Owners Ken and Debbie Snell were at Nottingham to cheer her on and were celebrating their wedding anniversary, so nice timing Lily! See presentation page for photo.

EDINBURGH KNIGHT is on track for a crack at the Steward's Cup at Goodwood, where he will again be partnered by Jim Crowley, who rode him so well to win at Newcastle. We hope for a wet Goodwood! Sorry everyone!

NELSON'S BOUNTY did not seem to cope with the ground at Newmarket on Saturday. It seemed to be loose due to the monsoon-like conditions and he did not like it.
