Last week was the best for some time when SONG OF JOY just failed to get up to win at Kempton on Wednesday and NIGHT LILY covered herself in glory, nearly stealing the Group 3 Chartwell Stakes at Lingfield on Saturday.  Good old ONGOODFORM did actually get in the number one position, also at Lingfield on Saturday.  ONGOODFORM's owner Jim Kinnear was over from Canada to see him win by a nose in the most exciting finish.  ONGOODFORM ranged up the inside of the second horse and the rail and could not be seen behind the bigger horse until he poked his nose out on the line under Neil Callan!  Jim and his party were almost overcome with the excitement.  Jim's two year old GLOBAL LEADER had been pencilled in to run at Ascot on Saturday, but the ground conditions were not suitable.  Both NIGHT LILY and ONGOODFORM only ran because Lingfield was switched to the polytrack as the turf was not raceable, so thanks to them for a good day!

NIGHT LILY, much-loved flagbearer of the yard, put her best foot forward under an enterprising ride from Jim Crowley to make the running over 7 furlongs in the Group 3 and ran her best race ever to lead into the final furlong where the winner kicked in the turbo to scoot past.  She now goes for the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom on Oaks day and we hope for fast ground.
